Hoakligs

Hoakligs actually translates to fussy, but with their food, even the fussiest of eaters will be wolfing down their street food with not even so much as a mumble.  Starting out as a food truck travelling the length and breath of the country, Hoakligs now also have a permanent restaurant in Gotzis called Touché, where you can enjoy their trendy street food concepts in food hall style dining (Update: Their Götzis restaurant has since closed, but you can still enjoy their delicious food from their food truck and food bike).

The team behind Hoakligs (Harald Wieshofer-Tomaselli, Bianca Tomaselli, Daniel Mostögl, Sabine Duelli, Mathias Seidl) originally came up with the idea when they wanted to bring healthy, quality food to the people of Austria, no matter where they were and so their food truck was born, delivering delicious, honest street food.

This is definitely not your average greasy late night spot. They develop creative dishes produced from quality local ingredients from right on our doorstep. Meat from the butchery of Stefan Borg, Nenzing, Ländle cream cheese from the Schnifis dairy and even the beer selection has been hand picked from Panülerbräu, Johann Kessler Nenzing.

We went to check out Touché in Götzis with some friends on a Saturday night.  Before we ordered our server was more than happy to spend the time chatting with us about their food and about where all of their ingredients came from and even how they choose the beer that they have on offer. He even recommended which beer to try based on our likes.

As we had reserved a table we were warmly greeted with a bowl of crunchy crisps to go with our drinks while we decided what else to indulge in. As I always want to try as many things on the menu as possible whenever I go somewhere new, I managed to convince our group to each try something different (whether they wanted to or not :)). Therefore we settled on a small feast of:

  • pulled beef burger with red cabbage salad and a special-Gsiberger-Barbecue-Sauce

  • pulled pork sandwich, marinated for 48 hours, topped with sauerkraut and a mustard garlic sauce.

  • a refreshing vegetarian wrap with rocket, quinoa, pepper yoghurt, fresh orange and mint.

  • and on the side to share some potato wedges smothered in cheese and herbs.

Other example items that have graced their menus include:

  •  curried chicken wrap, with tzatziki, green olives, and feta

  • a wrap with a specially created cream cheese that can be pan fried, covered in a spicy sauce and herbs.

  • pulled beef wrap with chipotle mayonnaise, paprika-quinoa, feta, and BBQ sauce

They also have salads and soups available and sometimes even a sweet treat to tickle your fancy like Kaiserschmarren with ice cream, or rhubarb strudel.

We had a really relaxed night at Touché, with no stress to leave and they were more than happy for us to sit and enjoy a few more drinks for as long as we wanted.

Touché is a playground for their chefs and a testing kitchen for developing new concepts, and so be ready to be wowed with some new and innovative tastes and combinations.

Aside from their food truck and restaurant, they also offer catering for your events, so you can enjoy their street food wherever and whenever you want.

So follow them on facebook to find out where their food truck will be next, or visit them in Götzis, but whatever you do, don’t miss out on this tasty “fast food”, that doesn’t  compromise on taste or quality.
